Technology has developed so much in the world that planes have access to almost every corner except one place. This is not a place but Tibet. Tibet is an autonomous region located in the western part of China (Why Plane Does Not Fly Over Tibet). There are high Himalayan mountains here.
Tibet shares the border of Mount Everest with Nepal. This place is also called ‘Roof of the World’ due to the high plateaus. Tim Hibbets, an airline worker, has answered this question in detail. They have told that due to the high mountain here, the flight of planes is not free from any danger.
He says, “The high mountains here and the problems faced by the engine are big issues, but still in many circumstances aircraft can fly up to a height of 20 thousand feet. But this will not be possible on Mount Everest (Planes Over Tibet). The high mountains here will prove to be high challenges ahead of any aircraft.
Apart from this, Tibet is also a low pressure area. This means that there is a shortage of air here. If the planes have to fly, then there will be a shortage of oxygen for the passengers sitting in it. Tim said that the problem is with the oxygen mask. Oxygen can be made available to the passengers at the time of emergency for only 15-20 minutes.
For the passengers to be able to breathe properly, the aircraft will have to fly at a lower altitude than the mountains. He explains, “There are some rules related to flight, due to which operators can be flown to an altitude of 10 thousand feet before the state of emergency oxygen.” But it would also be impossible to fly at such an altitude in this large area.
If the aircraft will fly at a low altitude, it will hit the high mountains. If you fly above the mountains, then there will be a lack of oxygen. Mathematician Yasha Berkenko-Kogan explains that flying over the Himalayas “will not prove to be a good place at the time of emergency.”
He told that if the engine of the aircraft malfunctions, then it will have to be lowered. But doing so on the Himalayas means hitting the mountains (Why Planes Do Not Fly Over Tibet). Due to the remote region of Tibet, planes do not require much to fly through this route.
