Gunmen kill many people in west Niger: In the African country of Niger, gunmen have committed gruesome slaughtering. On Sunday night, at least 40 people were gunned down by unidentified gunmen in Tahoua, a western region of Niger. This place is near the Mali border. On condition of anonymity, sources said that the attackers were in large numbers. They came on motorcycles and started firing at Intezayen, Bacoret and other places. The attackers set several houses on fire and fired bullets indiscriminately at the crowd.
Last week, at least 58 civilians were killed by suspected terrorists in the same area. Terrorist attacks in western Niger have increased a lot in the last few years. The terrorists have targeted not only the common citizens but also the security forces. These attacks are taking place at a time when the French Anti-Terrorism Army is stationed in this area. In January, more than 100 people were killed by terrorists in Chomabanagou and Jaroumdare of the same region.
Areas notorious for jihadi attacks
These villages, located on the Mali and Niger border, are often victims of jihadi attacks. Locals told AFP, “Armed people came on motorcycles and shot at everything that was shaking.” It is believed that at least 40 people have died. But this figure can also increase later. Sources in the security force say that at least 60 people have died.
One of the poorest countries
The three villages that the terrorists have attacked, all of them fall in the Tahoua region. Niger is one of the poorest countries in the world. This country is ranked 189 in the United Nations Development Ranking. Apart from this, jihadis come from Mali and Nigeria and attack here. Thousands of people have been killed, while more than five lakh people have left their homes.

On 15 March last week, the jihadis in Tilaberi area had kidnapped a bus carrying shopkeepers and killed 66 people. After this, he attacked the village of Dare-Day. Killed people and set shops on fire. On 2 January, 100 people were killed by attacking two villages. It was the most horrific massacre in the history of Niger. This happened at a time when presidential elections were being held in this country.
