Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Story: In India these days, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh, is being discussed a lot. The biggest reason for this is that the Ministry of Culture has announced on Monday that Rahman will be given the Gandhi Peace Prize 2020 for the year 2020. Apart from this, another reason for their discussion is PM Modi’s visit to Bangladesh later this month. The year 2020 is also the birth centenary year of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of Bangladesh (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birthday). Bangladesh is celebrating this special occasion as ‘Mujib Borso’.
The dignitaries are also going to wear the ‘Khadi Mujib Jacket’ when PM Modi arrives in Bangladesh, as it is known as Bangabandhu’s garment. Let me tell you, although Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was famous as ‘Sheikh Mujib’ but he was awarded the title of ‘Bandabandhu’. He led an armed struggle against Pakistan to liberate Bangladesh (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman East Pakistan). Born on 17 March 1920 in Tugipada, Dhaka, Bandabandhu was assassinated on 15 August 1975 in an attempt to military coup. One of the culprits of his assassination was Abdul Majid, who was hanged last year.
Many conspirators are still hidden
Former military officer Majid was the main accused in his murder. He remained hidden in India for 22 years and was arrested later. However, five other conspirators of Bangabandhu’s murder are still hidden. Majid had admitted that he had killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman but then he absconded. After which the security agencies of Bangladesh were searching for him (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Assassination). In 1998, the lower court of Bangladesh sentenced all military officers who killed Rahman and most of his family members to death.
First President of Bangladesh
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the father and first President of Bangladesh. He is also called the founder of Bangladesh. He played an important role in making Bangladesh a free country from Pakistan. When Bangladesh became a free country from Pakistan, Bangabandhu became the first president. Later he also became the Prime Minister. Rahman and most of his family members were killed when the coup took place in Bangladesh (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Cause of Death). Two of his daughters survived in this incident, one of which is Sheikh Hasina and the other is Sheikh Rehana.
Sheikh Hasina came to live in India
Sheikh Hasina is currently the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina had gone to Germany with her sister at the time of the incident. In this incident, the entire family except these two sisters was destroyed (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Daughter). It is said that the governments that came after them, they sent the killers of Rahman abroad under a diplomatic mission. During this time, her daughter Sheikh Hasina started coming to India and she campaigned against the power-grabbers of Bangladesh. She returned to the country and also won the elections after almost seven years.
