PM Modi at VGIR 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the Virtual Global Investor Roundtable (VGIR) today. The VGIR is organized by the Ministry of Finance and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, Government of India. There will be talks between big global institutional investors, Indian business leaders and the biggest decision-makers and financial market regulators from the Government of India. Union Finance Minister Sitharaman, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur, RBI Governor and others will also be present on the occasion.

Twenty of the world’s most pension and sovereign wealth funds will participate in this roundtable, whose total assets under management is about $ 6 trillion. These global institutional investors are representing America, Europe, Canada, Korea, Japan, Middle East, Australia and Singapore. The event will be attended by the main decision makers ie CEO and CIO. Some of these investors will sell for the first time from the Government of India. Apart from global investors, some top Indian business leaders will also participate in the roundtable.

VGIR 2020 will focus on India’s economic and investment outlook, structural reforms and the government’s vision of a five trillion dollar economy path. At the event, large global investors and Indian business leaders will get an opportunity to interact with senior policy makers to see how they can accelerate the growth of international investment in India. The foreign investment in India in this financial year is the highest ever in the first five months of a financial year.
VGIR 2020 will encourage all stakeholders to consolidate the strong agreements reached so far and communicate with international institutional investors who are considering increasing their Indian investment.
