The second reservation chart of the railway, which is called the Second Reservation List, will now be made 30 minutes before the train leaves. Based on the suggestions from all the zonal railways, Indian Railways has taken this step. The objective behind this change is that tickets can be booked online and at PRS counters for vacant seats based on the first reservation chart.
New rule in force from 10 October
On 11 May 2020, in view of the corona crisis epidemic, the railway changed the timing of the second chart. The chart was being prepared 2 hours before the departure of the train. But now after the discount received in the unlocked new guidelines of Unlock 5.0, the chart will be released again 30 minutes earlier. This rule of railways will be applicable from October 10. CRIS will make necessary updates to its software for this change. Railway issues the first reservation chart 4 hours before the train opens.
Rules had changed in Corona crisis

Under this, the second reservation chart started to be released 2 hours before the departure of trains from the stations. This provision was made for special trains.
Ticket booking/cancellation will continue
During this time, tickets will continue to be booked online and on railway counters till the second reservation chart is made. That is, railway passengers will get extra time for ticket booking, and the remaining seats will be available to the passengers on first come first serve basis. If someone has to cancel his ticket also, he can get it done first. Ticket cancellation will be done according to the rules of refund.

Plan to run 200 special trains
Railways had informed recently that Indian Railways plans to run 200 special trains between October 15 and November 30 in the festive season. Railways have canceled all the normal passenger trains indefinitely. These trains are canceled from 22 March. Railways started operating 15 special Rajdhani trains connecting Delhi to different parts of the country from May 12 and started operating 100 long-distance trains from June 1.
