Customers of many banks these days are worried about whether their IFSC code is going to change. With this, the question before them is whether their chequebook will not be valid from 1 April. These include customers of Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank, Vijaya Bank, Corporation Bank, Andhra Bank, Syndicate Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, United Bank of India and Allahabad Bank. These banks were merged with other banks. Let us know whether the changes related to the chequebook or IFSC code are going to come into effect from April 1 for the customers of these banks.
Bank of Baroda (BoB)
Bank of Baroda has tweeted that even after 1 April 2021, the checks of Vijaya and Dena Bank will remain accepted and valid in their banking system. So ignore the rumours. According to the bank, customers can apply for the new chequebook at their convenience. Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank were merged with Bank of Baroda.
Punjab National Bank (PNB)
According to Punjab National Bank, the chequebook of OBC and United Bank of India will remain valid till 31 March 2021. The bank has suggested customers to get a new checkbook (with new MICR and IFSC). Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India were merged with Punjab National Bank.
Indian Bank
Indian Bank had said in a tweet on 15 February that they can use the chequebook till its page is over or for the next 6 months. Allahabad Bank was merged with Indian Bank.
Union Bank of India (UBI)
Union Bank of India has informed its customers that the IFSC codes of Andhra and Corporation Bank have been changed. According to the bank, the old IFSC codes of both banks will no longer be valid from 1 April 2021. Customers will have to issue chequebooks with new IFSC and MICR codes. Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank were dissolved in Union Bank of India.
