Czech Republic’s carmaker Skoda has become increasingly involved in preparations for its second innings in India. The company has taken steps towards expanding its sales network and increasing the use of local products in its cars.
A top Skoda official said that the company wants to carve out a niche in a highly competitive market for passenger cars like India. Skoda has been working on a second innings project in India since June 2018 on behalf of the Volkswagen Group. She wants to raise awareness about the brand of her cars in India, reduce the cost of owning a car and connect financially strong dealerships with her. The company intends to have a dealer network that works to the satisfaction of its customers.
The company will launch four new cars
Please tell that currently, only two car models of Skoda are available in the market. Now the company has decided to launch four new products in the market. One of the model SUVs Kushaq has recently been introduced by the company, while the rest will be launched in the market in the next year. The company intends to increase the number of dealers to 150 by the end of this year.
The company is investing one billion euros
Managing director of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, Gurupratap Boparai said that as part of the group’s current effort, the company plans to increase the market share of the company’s products to five per cent in the Indian passenger cars market in the medium term. He said that Volkswagen Group is investing one billion euros to strengthen its presence in the Indian subcontinent.
Skoda Auto India brand director Jack Hollis said that the company wants to expand its position in the domestic market. Currently, only two of its products are Rapid and Superb available in this market. Now the company will introduce four new products in the Indian market during the next one year.
